Join us on this excursion to BlueAlp's pyrolysis technology plant in Ostend, to find out more about the processes involved in plastic recyling as well what a potential job as a chemical engineer might look like!

Plastic is essential in supporting food supply, housing, and healthcare systems. However, we must urgently address the challenges it creates, such as CO2 emissions, overflowing landfills, and the growing plastic pollution in our oceans. At BlueAlp, our mission is to deliver a solution by accelerating plastic recycling, to enable the transition towards a circular plastics economy.

BlueAlp is a leading chemical recycling technology company, with a proven and scalable technology to convert mixed plastic waste into circular base material for the petrochemical industry. This oil can be used to produce new plastics, including food-grade plastics. We work with several companies across the value chain to develop projects in chemical recycling for mixed plastic waste and divert plastic waste from incineration or landfill.

BlueAlp has developed its unique process, starting with its first 3 KTA plant in Switzerland. Building on this solid foundation, BlueAlp Ostend was constructed in 2020 and in operation since 2021. This plant is based on BlueAlp’s patented pyrolysis technology, with a capacity of 21kt, demonstrating the robustness of the process.
