Study tour - Singapore, Taiwan and Japan

Kon'nichiwa, nǐ hǎo, and hello Japies! In the summer of 2024 Japie will take an unforgettable tour across some of the Asian isles: Japan, Taiwan, and Singapore! This trip will have something for everyone! Some of the places we will get to visit some are the top universities and chemical industries in the far east. These countries have very strong universities, as well as large and innovative chemical industries, thus every excursion promises to be interesting.
In addition, a number of cultural actives will be arranged along the tour, allowing you to see each countries’ history as well as experience what it is like today. There will be enough downtime so that you and your fellow participants can explore the city and country on your own terms.
More than just the plane tickets and activities are included with the Study Tour. Accommodation for every night, inter and intra city transport are also included, as well as €21 per day of local currency earmarked for food. Before going on this trip you are also expected to complete a case study. This is a project organized by the Study Tour Committee and comes from a chemical research institute or company. You will do this project with one other participant under the supervision of a Helix staff member. The details of the project vary, however it is always around 160 man hours of work per person.
Furthermore, the Study Tour Committee will also host several activities in preparation for the trip. The first one is a “get to know each other” activity, where you will meet and greet your fellow participants. Up next there are two more activities aimed at getting you more comfortable with the participants and professors you will be traveling with. One of these activities is a whole weekend away full with fun and games. Finally, we will make a trip to a company in the Netherlands, before leaving for our study tour.

Please Note: In order to join this activity, you must have completed the propaedeutic phase of your study at the moment of subscription. Dates and details are subject to change. However, we will leave after the exams and come back before the resets for no more than 29 days.

In the case of over subscription, a draw will take place in accordance with the Domestic Regulations, specifically article 10.6:
1. Draw category A:
a. The study tour committee;
b. One or more persons, appointed by the study tour committee in consultation with the board, because they have made a special effort to facilitate the study tour;
2. Draw category B:
Ordinary members who have participated in a company visit within the period of one and a half years prior to the draw, but never in a study tour;
3. Draw category C:
Ordinary members who have not participated in a company visit within the period of one and a half years prior to the draw, and never in a study tour;
4. Draw category D:
Ordinary members who have participated in a company visit within the period of one and a half years prior to the draw, and once in a study tour;
5. Draw category E:
Ordinary members who have not participated in a company visit within the period of one and a half years prior to the draw, but once in a study tour.
