In association with the Faculty Chemical Engineering of the “Technische Hogeschool Eindhoven” (College of Technology Eindhoven) five students took the initiative to arrange a meeting on 6 December 1957. They invited all the professors, colleagues and students to attend the meeting chaired by Professor Dr. Van Loon. Almost all the students of the Faculty Chemical Engineering were present at this meeting and it was decided unanimously to found a technological study association. The five students were in charge of the temporary board of the students’ association. Shortly after that they organised their first excursion to a nitrogen company of the State Mines (now called DSM) in Geleen. On 4 February 1958 a special meeting was arranged and the name ‘Jan Pieter Minckelers’ was given to the association. This was soon abbreviated to JaPie. On 13 February 1958 the first Board was chosen. Now, our association has existed for 50 years.
